Today we have the day to explore the Kalbarri National Park and afterwards, if there is time, we will pop to Blue Hole Bay – a good spot for snorkelling.
We are up early (for us) and on the road by 9.30am. It’s only 30 minutes up the road to the park, which is good. However, the weather forecast has said today will reach 38 degrees at the park, which is not good.
It’s already 32 degrees by the time we arrive. we step out of the car to be inundated by swarming flies, all over us. That’s OK, we have head nets to go over our hats to keep them off our face. They are in the rucksack. Just not the rucksack we have with us! Aghhhhh! Its OK, we can cope.

We abandon our visit at the skywalk. It was just too much. So a half hour drive back to get the nets scuppered our early start.
An hour and a half later, having stopped in Kalbarri for tea and cake, we were back. This time prepared and ready for action… with the temperature pushing 36 degrees. Didn’t matter, we had nets to protect our faces.

We left the Skywalk and drove to another part of the park to see Natures Window, formed by layers of Tumblagooda sandstone , it’s a natural window that looks out on the the lake below (when there is water flowing).
We arrive and the car says 38 degrees outside. Its only a 500 meter walk but the heat is relentless. We are here so we go, says Julie. Gentle slop down all the way, we do have to come back up thou.

My sister-in-law Lesley’s tip for getting pesky flies out of the car works. Open the windows and put the aircon on full. They don’t like it! They are outta here.
Its 2.30pm, too hot to walk in the park so we head for Blue Hole beach…

And we are on Blue Hole beach, a great beach with good rock pools and lots of fishes and, only 4 minutes drive outside Kalbarri.

We spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach and were treated to another fabulous sunset.

We also met some new wildlife who were popping out of their hide-holes… all over the beach!

Tomorrow we have the longest journey of our entire holiday, and it’s going to be another warm one.
