Day 64 – Pink!

Our Jurien Bay accommodation was not the Crown Promenade! I think the suite we had at the Crown Promenade had a larger footprint than the chalet we had at Jurien Bay

Bathroom. Small but it served a purpose for one night. The only problem was, even with the aircon off, it was absolutely freezing!

We were up early, we didn’t sleep well because it was cold, and on our way to Kalbarri. We have 2 stops planned on the way, both of them within an hour of Kalbarri. So, as it was the best part of a 4 hour drive, we needed to find a good spot on the way for tea and cake. And we did! We even indulged in a steak and mushroom pie, which was excellent!

Dongara Bakery, very popular with the locals and very popular with us! After the pie, we had apple slices with tea. Excellent!

Refreshed we were back on the road for our first proper stop at Hutt Lagoon, also known as the Pink Lagoon because it’s pink!

Took loads of pictures, as usual, so I’ll keep it to those.

We were back on the road, next stop, The Kalbarri National Park but the cliff walk and specifically, Rock Island. Part of the coral coast, a solitary sea stack, sculpted by the decaying cliffs.

Having had a short walk along the cliffs, a) because Julie’s knee still isn’t right and b) because the flies were very annoying, we were on to Kalbarri.
Nice sign.

Where we checked in to a much nicer and warmer apartment for 2 days. We were also treated to a super sunset on KalBarri beach.

First day and we like Kalbarri.
