We are up early, basically because Perth are 3 hours behind Sydney so our body clocks are adjusting again. We have leisurely breakfast and then go and pick up our hire car for our trip up the west coast.

Today’s journey is from Perth to Jurien Bay. Not too far but we are calling off at a couple of places on the way. The first is the Lancelin Sand dunes, which are the tallest sand dues on the west coats and famous for sandboarding. The second is the Pinnacles Desert in the Namburg National Park.
We pick up our Toyota Corolla, which is a hybrid and we are on our way. I’ve never driven a hybrid before and it’s a lot smaller the Arthur the beast we had in New Zealand, but we like it.

We arrive at the dunes..

We were back in the car and on our way to the Pinnacles. The Pinnacles are natural limestone formations formed approximately 30’000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of seashells.

There is a set track of 4km that you drive the car around, with designated stopping points and lookouts. There is also a walking track. Be prepared for some Pinnacle photos.

Having had a couple of hours exploring the Pinnacles, we were on our way to our first stop over in Jurien Bay, which gave us a fabulous sunset.

Another great day. Tomorrow we are bit of a longer journey to Kalbarri.
