Day 61 – Beachin’

Today was a slightly more relaxed day. After the get up (early) and go of yesterday’s full itinerary, today we are a lot more leisurely, with a trip to Manly Beach. We took our (now) usual mode of transport, the Tram, down to Circular Quay to pick up the ‘Fast’ ferry to Manly.

The weather was good and the advantage with the ferry is, you get a great view of Sydney Opera House.

Marvellous in the sunshine.

A 15 minute speedy ride and we are at Manly Wharf.

And it’s only a five minute stroll though the town to get to the beach front. Unless, you are mooching in the shops on the way.

There was a good reason for mooching. When we left this morning, the weather man said it was going to be a grey, overcast day. So, I didn’t take my sunglasses and Julie claims, she forgot to pick up her hat. So, cheap sunglasses for me and a cheap sun hat for Julie. Sorted!

New sunhat for Julie.
Great beach at Manly, with proper sand. Stu knows what I mean.
And good waves.

It was very hot in the sun and I went for a dip in the sea. Julie took pictures. Can you spot me?

I’m in there somewhere… honest.
Here’s a easier one.

Of course Julie was easy to spot..

… But the sunhat is a giveaway.

After a lovely day at the beach we had dinner at Manly Grill restaurant…

before heading back to the ferry for the trip back to Circular Quay…
Bye Manly Wharf.

As I said, the ferry gives you a great view of the Sydney skyline, bridge and opera house.

The Sydney skyline by twilight
Still an awesome view..
It’s one of those you have to see in person. Such an amazing building.
Approaching Circular Quay ferry terminal.

We have been here, at some point, pretty much everyday and it still an awesome sight.

Today was our last view of circular quay, the harbour bridge and the Opera House. Tomorrow we fly to Perth.

Sydney, you have been amazing! We loved you.
