Day 56 – Taking it Easy

After drying out from yesterdays rainforest adventure (shoes are still wet), Julie was still suffering with her knee. This was our last full day in Cairns so it was a ‘taking it easy’ kind of day. Also the forecast was for heavy rain, again. As it happened, we didn’t have any rain at all! Just grey sky all day. So breakfast on the balcony, as usual, with fruit….

And then a very gentle afternoon walk down the front to look at the ‘Telescopus’. Oh and a cafe with good tea and cake of course.

The view – grey with clouds but not raining.
An afternoon stroll along the front. The wild life were very much in action in the mud flats.
A video of the molluscs moving on the sand would have been very good had I though to use time-lapse. Loads of them. Hey-ho.
Parrots in the trees – hard to get the colours against the sky.
Not a real fish – the children’s playground.

We reached the Telescopus and here it is…

and here’s the other side…
And this is what it’s about….

So there you go.

It was so warm we didn’t have tea but opted for an ice cream at our favourite ice cream place.

For the record, Julie had a banana caramel cone and I had a 2 scoop cup, with a scoop of coffee and a scoop of coconut.

And finally, I got a photo of the life guard carrying her flotation device, just in case it gets a bit deep at 4 feet.

Best prepared.

Tomorrow we leave for Sydney.

  1. Enjoy Sydney Harbour Bridge Tony. But a quiet night, the night before, with the breathalyzer as one of the pre-checks 😊
