Day 47 – Lady of the Canyon…

Well, not quite a canyon but a gorge.

We are in Launceston and my faith in Big4 parks is restored further by the lovely blonde lady on reception (so sorry, I can’t remember your name but you know who you are), who gives me great information about Launceston (pronounced ‘Lawn-cess-ton’) and restaurants, local things to do, etc. But it’s been a long drive and late so we just need to eat and sleep, oh, and make up the bed, Doh!

The next morning we are rested and ready to face the day. But first, I need to say, Julie really needs to up her game as far as ‘breakfast dress’ ‘goes and really get in to the outside living.

Leopard print lounge suit at breakfast. Must look for one for Julie.
Get the washing done early… and it is raining!

We are on the road for Cataract Gorge, as recommended by our friendly receptionist. and it’s a great place. They have a chairlift and an out door swimming pool for the public, and a great gorge too – not Cheddar Gorge of course but still good.

We’re going on that!
and we did.

And at the top, lots of Pade melons..

Some a bit shy…
Some no so shy!

We spend the morning wandering around the gorge – photo alert..

Swimming pool in front of the lake, which you can also swim in.
Me on the walkway
Julie on the bridge.
Now this is where Julie twisted her knee. She is OK but it curtailed our walking activities for the rest of the day. So it was a slow limp back to the RV and a ride into Launceston to get an ice pack.

We then hit the road for St Helens which will be true off-line life as it’s an unpowered and no facility site. It will be interesting.
