Day 43 – Above the clouds

It’s early 4.30am but we are back in the groove. Excited. Maybe a little nervous, this is another unknown but we are ready!

In-training receptionist Lainey hasn’t let us down. The taxi she booked for us arrives on time. 5.30am. Cases in, we are on our way and I’ve got away without any fruit for breakfast. First time since we arrived in New Zealand.

We arrive at the airport. Check in the bags, through security and it’s upstairs for breakfast.

On our way..

Julie goes for Tea and Croissants and comes back with… Tea and a banana! Noooo!

And ‘relax’ says the board – we are about to fly so that’s not very reassuring for Julie.
Our plane, waiting for us
First sighting of Tazmania.

We land. Only immigration to get through and we are on our way. Slightly disappointing that we have to wait outside to get in to see security. Small airport.

Anyway, before we know it, we are through and in Tazmania! Next stop, pick up the campervan, our home for the next 7 days. The camper van place is a 2 minute walk from the airport, and it was. The bad news was, it was late being returned so it’s not ready. We eventually get it and we are on our way.

Now here is the weird bit. I took pictures of the inside and outside of every air B&B and hotel we stopped in, in New Zealand. As I’ve come to write this, we don’t have a single picture of our current home. How weird is that!

We do a quick shop to keep us going and find our first nights stop at the Hobart Showground RV site. I’m not quite sure what I expected but it wasn’t this. We were on a large gravel car park, which artificial turf sites with a post at the end for power and water. In front of us was a building site and behind is a 3 lane highway. More than that, it looks like one of those trailer parks you see in American movies, where people live in trailers.

According to google maps, there is a big lake just down the road with a boardwalk across the lake, and an interesting looking art installation. It also houses the ‘Mybank’ Arena where Crowded House played last year. We go.

The Arena – nice.

Not only was it a great Piece of art (if you like that sort of thing – I do) but the sunset was stunning! You have been warned.

That’s enough sunset shots – you get the idea.

Tomorrow we hit the road.
