Its the morning after the night before and remarkably, everyone is in good spirits, despite the 2am arrival home. It’s a late morning but we know we have time. The post wedding day party has been booked at Charlie Farley’s Bar at 3pm (not sure where Piggy Malone is? – that’s one for the older generation who remember The Two Ronnies).
My new Media assistant Paul as done some research. Our best option to get to Charlie Farley’s is the islands number 51 bus, which runs every half an hour from the end of the road. Great research Paul. It’s $2.50 and according to his good lady Debbie, we need the right change. Hmmm, a scramble for change but we scrap it together.
While we are discussing Paul, I have been asked how he got the job as my media assistant. Well I advertised in-house for an RTS (Retired Training Scheme) apprentice – unpaid of course. Paul sent his CV (see picture below – warning: Not for people with a nervous disposition) and no one else applied so he got the job, and what a marvellous job he’s doing!

Back to today. So at 2.30pm we head off for the bus to Charlie Farley’s and the beach. First thing we forget is the bucket and spade we found in a cupboard – big fail! But we plough on.

The Bus comes, they don’t accept cash. Aghhh! but the kind bus driver let’s us on, with ‘Unpaid’ tickets, on the understanding that when he drops us at the petrol station (a short walk from Charlie Farley’s), we go in and buy travel cards for $10 each. We accept his offer..

We are dropped at the petrol station and we went in. What happened next I am unable to report on due to a binding ‘pinky swear’. But the ice creams were nice.
We arrive at Charlie Farley’s bar. It lives up to the hype and is across the road from a very inviting sea and beach.

The crew are here!

Having had a quick bite to eat, it was over to the beach and in to the sea for the adventurous.

The fabulous Helen had also come along to support but got distracted by shells.

Following the swim, Debbie does the mum thing and hangs out the wet stuff to dry..

We then get treated to some great entertainment from Michael’s friend Joey who played a few songs for the assembled guests.

The sun drop and the moon reflects over a calm sea providing a wonderful opportunity for photos

And final family group photos at the end of the evening.

An absolutely wonderful post wedding celebration and a great way to finish the 4 days on the island.

Tomorrow we are back on our travels.
