Day 20 – In the Capital

Today we got to explore the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington. This is very different from anything we experienced on the South Island. It’s a very modern city lots of great architecture, both new and old.

We arrive on the streets of Wellington. Cable car entrance in the back ground.

We head down to the water front

Practical art – the must unusual wheelchair accessible loo you will even see.

And then we thought we would get a bit of culture by visiting the Wellington Portrait Gallery.

It was an ‘interesting’ exhibition which Lynn didn’t quite get….

“What’s that supposed to be???” It prompted coffee time.

We went for Cake and tea at Pandoro Panetteria. Great cake, great tea. And then it was off the ride the cable car up to the top for a great view of the city and a visit to the botanical gardens.

The sun shone, it was windy (but wellington is), we had a great day.
