The sun is shining, it’s warm and we are up early and ready for for another long journey to Blenheim, via Nelson. Before we set off, it’s time for breakfast, well at least a cup of tea, by the Pacific Ocean. Still can’t get over how fabulous this place is. The kind of view you can just look at day after day. Lynn is already up at the beach hut and surprisingly so is Guy.

According to Guy, Granity is the longest cul-de-sac in the world as the road doesn’t actually go anywhere and just stops. Think I could live on the cul-de-sac….

Goodbye Granity, you were great. And we are on our way. Yesterday I said we had a lot of the wiggly road signs. This is part of our route on the satnav. Looks like a child has scrawled down the screen. I think even the music felt a bit sorry for us!

Again, more great scenery on route, so much so, you start to take it for granted.

As usual on route, the cafe stop is essential and google comes to our aid again with a suggestion of the Rivers cafe. Great cake, great tea and the young chap serving us was from Shirley, Birmingham(!) on a work visa.

Refreshed, next stop Nelson! We arrive in Nelson. It’s busy, busier than anything we have dealt with in days. We’re not keen. It also takes us 15 minutes to find somewhere to park. Haven’t had that problem since, well, since we picked up the car! Parked, we are by the beach, it’s 26 degrees, and we go for a walk.

On the way back from the beach, the girls come across musical instruments in a children’s playground. Still inspired from last nights performance, Julie and Lynn do their own Oldbury meets New Zealand fusion…

We go in to town to have a look around….

After a glass of wine, Tony is driving and it was back on the road to Blenheim, where all the wine is made!

More tomorrow.
