Day 8 – Catch of the day

We depart Dunedin and we’re on another long drive across country to Te Anau with the big trip being (spoiler alert) Milford Sound tomorrow. As we are a planning group, we have looked at the Cafe’s on the way and decided our stop will be Gore. Lynn gives us some fascinating facts on the way, including it is famous for its brown trout….

Big brown trout!

Its also the Country music capital of New Zealand. Really? This little town….

Yes, it certainly is! Glen Campbell and Kenny Rogers have visited.

Anything else interesting about Gore? Well, they still use Parking meters (but you do have to use the app).

The over fresh bakery does good cakes(!) and the road workers controlling the traffic are happy people!

And finally, after 4 hours on the road, we arrive in Te Anau.

Interesting fact (from Lynn): Te Anau Lake is 36K long!

I’m all caught up (having missed a day yesterday). Time for sleep, early start tomorrow to get the coach.
